The Lines: Week 5

NFL 2012 - Week 5
Lines - a collective collaboration with Eighth Round Pick

Using our collective insight (and Football Locks),  teams up with  () to bring you our Lines for Week 5 of the NFL Season. Let's look at the previous week:

Kev (4-1) bested Hispandrix (3-2) in the Lines again, which brings Kev up to 11-9 for the year, and myself at a dismal 5-15.

Hispandrix's Take
It was a better week, and it seems to be a better week overall. Let's just hope it sticks.

Atlanta at Washington (+3) - Total 51.5
My surprise pick or upset of the week here. It's not even the fact that I'm not buying the Falcons. I just think this has all of the makings of a Redskins victory, and RGIII has enough to give the Falcons fits. If you slightly recall what Jim Haslett was able to do against Drew Brees, you may see something similar against Matt Ryan.

Cincinnati (-3) vs. Miami - Total 45
The Bengals, as I stated in Week 5 Pick'em, are quietly 3-1. The Dolphins arguably played their best game against the Cardinals (which of course the season is young) last week. There's no denying the fact that Andy Dalton is in command of the offense, so look for a potential blowout.

Carolina (-3) vs. Seattle - Total 43.5
Cam Newton blames himself for last week, and rightfully so. He was under so much criticism after the Hello Kitty performance against the Giants in primetime. Seattle followed up the impressive gift win against the Packers with being dominated by the Rams (who are looking better each week). The Panthers will win, plain and simple.

Chicago (-5.5) at Jacksonville - Total 41
I'm just hoping good Jay Cutler & 'catch the ball' personality Brandon Marshall shows up. The Bears defense will do their job, let's just hope the Bears offense does as well.

Houston (-8) at NY Jets - Total 41
You lose Revis, and have no quarterback, and an offense. These are the Jets who crashed and burned at home against the 49ers at home last week. The Texans are red hot, and it'll be a pretty boring Monday Night game.
