Notes from Hispandrix
TB@MIN: Josh Freeman & company might have been able to pass for a substantial amount of yards against the Saints, but the Vikings defensively are better than that. It will be interesting to see the excellent run D of the Bucs contend against AP. I just wish they both wear their throwback uniforms to complete the once glorious NFC Norris Rivalry. Look for the Vikes to edge this one out, and stay perfect at home.
CAR@CHI: Panthers fired their GM. Cam Newton is under fire from every angle imaginable. This team is sinking faster than the Titanic. They’ll march into Chi-town to face the red hot Bears, and not come out victorious.
SD@CLE: Cleveland has shocked us before (see Bengals game), but after the Chargers embarrassing loss on MNF to Peyton Manning & company, they should rebound here, and you’ll see a lot less mistakes from Philip Rivers.
SEA@DET: I had much higher hopes for the Lions this season. The Seahawks played more like we knew they would against the 49ers. I believe you’ll see Megatron go off at home, and be sure to restore some of the roar back into Detroit, at least for one week.
JAC@GB: Packers roll, not even close, not even worth analysis.
MIA@NYJ: The Dolphins are fresh off the bye, and have enough in their game plan to take this win. I believe a heavy dose of Reggie Bush coupled with some good play out of the D will produce a win for the Phins.
ATL@PHI: Mike Vick, oh the fire you’ve been under. All Atlanta has done is remain unbeaten. The big deal here is how the secondary solves for the Hydra of Jones-White-Gonzalez. Both teams are fresh off the bye, so at least expect a mildly entertaining game. I like Philly to edge this out.
WAS@PIT: If only the Skins had a secondary? Big Ben & company should throw for a ton of yards, and even hobbled & injured, one will think the Mastermind of Defense, Dick Lebeau, will be able to solve for RGIII.
NE@STL: New England has too many weapons for Jeff Fisher to stop. If you saw what the Packers were able to do, you will likely see a similar repeat here. I don’t think the Rams will take it lying down, but tough to see the Pats being overthrown here.
IND@TEN: A rather intriguing matchup here. The Colts squeaked out a win against the Browns, and the Titans shocked the bills with a last minute TD. CJ2K CJ500 had an impressive day, but will he do it again? I’d say it’s more about Hasselbeck here. I’ll take the Titans.
OAK@KC: In the snooze matchup of the week, Oakland. If that doesn’t work for you, Brady Quinn.
NYG@DAL: One of the best matchups of the week, the vaunted rematch of Week 1 where the Cowboys upset the defending Super Bowl Champs. Now that we’ve had some time to reflect, and see what teams really do, I’ll happily choose the Giants. Sean Lee is gone for the year (humongous blow, I like that guy). Romo’s offense is severely struggling, and for good reason. Murray & Jones are banged up. If you have to force Romo to throw, then you know what will happen.
NO@DEN: You know I won’t give too much on this one, but I will in my Keys to the Game. Let’s just say it boils down to who wants this more?
SF@AZ: Not the most entertaining on MNF Matchups, but certainly not one to shrug off. Alex Smith has been hideous the past couple of games. John Skelton is at the helm. Give me ‘Let’s See Another Defensive Struggle Game’ for 500 please.
