Notes from Hispandrix

OAK@ATL: I’d normally say trap game here, and I still will, but the Raiders don’t really have much of anything to deal the Falcons their first loss this season.

DAL@BAL: If the Bears get Tony Romo to turn it over 5+ times at home, then he could double it against the Cowboys, or he could actually have a decent game. The media made the mistake of saying Ray Lewis is getting slow. Then there’s playing Baltimore at home, Ravens will win this showdown with ease.

CIN@CLE: The Browns. LAWL. It might be a decent matchup, but the Bengals have too much going to lose. They won’t get the first win of the year here.

STL@MIA: An interesting, underrating matchup this Sunday.  The majority of people are going with the Phins here, and I guess it’s because of Reggie Bush, or Tannehill isn’t playing so terrible as they thought he would. I like the Rams defense better here, and Jeff Fisher solving for ways to win.

IND@NYJ: The Jets may find the end zone more this week, which isn’t saying much. The Colts proved they couldn’t simply be forgotten about. Andrew Luck to Reggie Wayne is becoming more a common theme, and these Colts march in to the Big Apple, and will march out with a win.

DET@PHI: Detroit has not been playing well this season. I had such high hopes for them, and while the season is far from over, it’s just not an optimal matchup for them to turn things around. Vick has been under tremendous scrutiny, and I believe this could be a game where he delivers.

KC@TB: Brady Quinn. No. This completely changes the dynamics of the offense, and you will see Chiefs fans regret cheering their QBsuccumbing to a concussion. Could be an interesting game that will have to wait until the last 5 minutes to decide, but I’ll take a Connor Barth FG to win.

BUF@AZ: I don’t see the Cardinals losing at home after their terrible showing against the Rams, at least not to the Bills. Kevin Kolb should show up for the Cardinals, who are down to their 18th running back. It’ll be a pass heavy day, and while Kolb is not an Alex Smith (jeez, did I really just make that comparison?), he should do just fine in getting the Cardinals a win.

NE@SEA: Look, I get it, the Seahawks have been good at home. However, this isn’t the Patriots defense of last year. Plus, it’s still Tom Brady with a buffet of weaponry. They can beat you in so many ways, and I don’t believe Pete Carroll will get the best of his former mentor.

NYG@SF: Eh, the ‘rematch’ game. I think there’s a ton of favor swaying the 49ers on this game, and it’s evident seeing the pick distributions. However, I can’t just overlook the fact that the Giants have a better offense here (despite what anyone does on the Bills), and they can do enough on defense to stop Alex Smith. I definitely think this matchup of the day will have a great ending, but I just think Eli will be smiling again.

MIN@WAS: Intriguing matchup here, as we don’t know how healthy RGIII will be. It’s not like home field does anything for the Redskins. The Vikings are a much improved team, and I think Christian Ponder has a lot to do with that. I think they’ll take this one, and make the Skins wonder if they should go back to RFK.

GB@HOU: Matchup of the week here. The Packers need this win, after losing to the Colts last week in the last 30 seconds. The Texans are arguably the best team in the NFL, or at least playing like it. I believe your biggest thing here is how Wade Phillips will frustrate Aaron Rodgers. I really don’t see the Packers getting the upset in this primetime matchup.

DEN@SD:  Peyton Manning looked good against the Patriots last week, but their defense didn’t at all. The Chargers got up on the Saints, but couldn’t finish. Both teams off a loss, and this game has the makings of a shootout. I’ll give the slight edge to the Broncos in this one, because of the various weapons Manning has to work with. Don’t think he didn’t see what Drew Brees was able to do against them last week.
