1st & 5 Pick'em! (Week 17)

1st & 5:

Week by Week Picks for the 2012 NFL Season

A pretty good week for Pick'em. Mosh N' Hops (Shawn) continues to lead going into the final week of the season, but Hispandrix narrowed the lead to 3. Final week of the regular season (which is all divisional clashes), playoffs still around the corner, anything can happen! See Week 16 Results Here, or Look Below!

Your Leaderboard after 16 Weeks:

1st: Mosh N' Hops (145-94-1)
2nd: Hispandrix (142-97-1)
3rd: TheRealJRad (139-100-1)

Notes from Hispandrix

TB@ATL: Tampa is looking to close out the year on a fairly positive note, and what better way to do it against Atlanta? I hate these last week matchups, because I would think the Falcons would rest some starters, but since they earn a bye, I wouldn't be surprised if they show up for at least the first half. It's a very meaningless game. I still think the Falcons will take it.

NYJ@BUF: Mark Sanchez is back, and likely playing his last game as a Jet (I hear the course of cheers from New York now). Buffalo is on a 3 game losing streak at this point, and New York has dropped its last 2. Hopefully the Bills decide to show up, because well, making Mark Sanchez look like a remotely poor Quarterback is embarrassing.

BAL@CIN: I am one of the select few to ride the Ravens train this week. This matchup surprisingly has a ton of interest. The Ravens have won the division, but depending how this matchup goes, these two teams COULD be playing next weekend in Baltimore for a Wild Card Matchup (depending on how New England & Indy fairs). I like the Ravens to set the tone here, and whether they meet next week or not, we're seeing if the Ravens team that destroyed the Giants are going into the playoffs, or the other team.

CHI@DET: Detroit has lost its last 7 in a row. Chicago is hoping a lot happens to get them into the playoffs, however, they first have to win. I believe they show up, and Detroit walks away after a very disappointing year, after making the playoffs last year for the first time in ever. This is Jay Cutler though, on the road, so it could could either way.

HOU@IND: #ChuckStrong. That's really all ya need to know. The Colts are arguably the most improved team over last season, a year after going 2-14, and back in the playoffs. They certainly are an encouraging story to say the least, and while Houston hasn't clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs, they do need this matchup. I like  this one for Chuck, and remember how bad the Texans looked against the Vikings last week.

CAR@NO: You've probably already seen my Keys to the Game. But if not, Saints, duh. Welcome back Coach!

PHI@NYG: The Eagles get Michael Vick back here, and it may be the last time he suits up with them. The Giants can only hope things fall their way to get into the postseason, but losing last week really set them back. One last hurrah for Eli & company, the hourglass is running out for the former Super Bowl champs.

CLE@PIT: The Steelers wrap up this year, wondering what could have been. There will be no postseason in Pittsburgh, for the first time since 2009. The Steelers have not forgotten the last time they faced the Browns, when they turned the ball over 7 times. I think they'll get even easily in Pittsburgh.

JAC@TEN: Meh....both squads are going to have a ton of questions during the offseason. The Titans have been playing better overall, but that's like saying I'd rather eat crap with sprinkles vs. eating crap itself. Titans.

KC@DEN: Broncos are playing for home field throughout the playoffs, and I'm sure Peyton Manning is eagerly up to the challenge. Even if they rest all of their starters (which is highly unlikely), they would still beat up on Kansas City. As for the Chiefs, well, you and Jacksonville are on the clock.

GB@MIN: Each of these teams have been on a winning streak, and the Vikings are playing for their playoff lives. The Packers need a win to host teams in Lambeau on that Frozen Tundra for the playoffs, and get a bye. Huge clash, record at stake for AP, I smell Joe Buck & Troy Aikman. This could go either way, and while things tend to go their way at home (6-1), I'll give the nod to the Packers this go round.

MIA@NE: New England should win this one easily, because they still are hoping something crazy happens (i.e. Houston losing), and jump them for a first round bye. The Patriots aren't one to let up, and while the Dolphins (7-8) have had a quietly decent season, and winning their last 2, they'll at least give them a challenge, for at least a couple quarters? Let's just hope we're spared that New Logo that is rumored for next season.

OAK@SD: Chargers won't have any postseason this season again. They should beat up on the Raiders.

STL@SEA: The Seahawks have been playing bully the past few weeks, scoring over 40 in each of the games. I'm not sure what the hell is happening, but the Seahawks sure look like the most dangerous team going into the postseason as of right now. This could be a classic trap game, but we may see them blow the Rams out of the water here.

AZ@SF: 49ers went from knocking off the Patriots to getting destroyed by the Seahawks. The Cardinals got upended by the Bears last week, and will closeout 2012 hoping they can forget it fast. CRAIGSLIST: QB WANTED, PLEASE SEE US. 9ers.

DAL@WAS: This game had so much implication, that they flexed it to be the last game of the season. The Cowboys fought back last week after getting down against the Saints, and while Jason Garrett's job is safe, it still has the makings of a Cowboys meltdown. RGIII is this close to leading his team to the playoffs for the first time since 2007, and the Hogettes couldn't be happier. This should be a big clash of a matchup, but I believe I'll give the edge to the Skins, who have been winners of their last 6. HTTR?
