Notes from Hispandrix
DEN@OAK: Oakland, terrible. Denver, not terrible. Broncos have been on a roll, and there’s not much hope for them to be stopped by Oakland. Again, Carson Palmer.
STL@BUF: It has been a fairly tough season for both of these clubs, but they are actually still playing for something. Buffalo has been playing better as of late, and I’ll side with them again, despite the Rams knocking off the 49ers last week.
ATL@CAR: Meh, Atlanta lucked out last time they faced the Panthers, and it’s just been ‘their’ season with the way things have played out. I’d love to say upset here, which you can’t necessarily call it that. The Falcons SHOULD really rest some starters. They looked flat against the Saints, but I suspect we might see them back in action this season.
DAL@CIN: Hmmm, Dallas barely escaped the Eagles last week. This is December, on the road, against a pretty good Cincy team looking to sneak into the playoffs. Few ‘former’ Cowboys on that Bengals squad could wreak some havoc for Romo.
KC@CLE: Cleveland on a streak? Kansas City winning? What sorcery is this? Homecoming for Peyton Hillis, should be interesting. However, I still like Cleveland a little better. Can’t ignore that they’ve beat the Steelers & the Raiders.
TEN@IND: Colts are poised to take that momentum they had last week in beating the Lions in the last 3 seconds, and really putting it to the Titans. The last time those squads met, it went to OT. We all remember that sick Vick Ballard play. Count on Indy again!
NYJ@JAC: So the Jets won, with Greg McElroy, then Rex goes back to Sanchez for this week. Yeah. That’s a pretty tough pill to swallow. The Jets still have something to play for, but who the hell even knows what team shows up. Jags.
CHI@MIN: Interesting as it may be, this matchup COULD go either way. We’ve seen the Bears in their ups & downs. They are fresh off their loss from the Seahawks in OT (Is Sidney Rice still having nightmares?) AP ‘Terminator’ is still running like a mad man, and has been the staple of the Vikings offense. The Bears should win here, even if it’s on the road.
SD@PIT: Steelers with even a 60% Big Ben should roll on. The Chargers have been such a disappointment this season, which begs the question of change coming in San Diego. Let’s just hope the Steelers show up and play like the team that beat the Ravens in their own backyard.
PHI@TB: Tampa should roll here, the Eagles have been giving teams a run for their money, but with Andy Reid’s days being so numbered, and your hope in a rookie QB….it looks bleak.
BAL@WAS: Interesting as it may be, with possibly not having Terrell Suggs play here. Everyone is tending to side with the Redskins here, who just came off an impressive win against the Giants at home. I tend to think Baltimore has the upper hand, because Ray Rice.
MIA@SF: Even with Colin Kaepernick, the 49ers are getting things done, well, except for that meltdown against the Rams last week that was all Kaepernick’s fault. Miami could shock them, but I tend to go with the gut, that 49er defense.
NO@NYG: As always, you won’t see me give away a ton here. Just know, or remember that NO ONE is giving the Saints a chance here, and EVERYONE picked against us.
AZ@SEA: John Skelton is back! Hold your shock factor. Sadly, this game is in Seattle for the Cardinals. They’ve been on an 8 game skid, and I really don’t see enough from them to take out Seattle. You’d be wise to side with Seattle too.
DET@GB: Packers are in full force, and with this game, they have everything at stake with the Bears nibbling at their heels. The Lions playoff hopes are almost completely gone, with them needing to win out to have a remote chance of squeaking in. However, I’ve said before, no 8-8 teams will make the post season here. Sorry Lions, just not your year.
HOU@NE: Matchup of the week here. There’s no question about it. I believe a win over the Patriots will solidify the Texans, and quiet any naysayers out there who downplay their 11-1 record. It’s at New England. Brady is no slouch, as we all know. The fact that the Pats are playing at home makes me side with them.
