Notes from Hispandrix

CIN@HOU: Houston has been off in a bad way, and find themselves limping into the postseason. They blew home field advantage, and lost their bye spot. At one point, the Texans were thought of as the most dangerous team, and heavily favored top seed. They have gone 2-3 in their last 5, including losing the last 2. Many of you might remember TJ Yates was at the helm, and helped fuel the Texans to their first playoff victory in existence. That Bengals have won their last 3, and while the Ravens game on Sunday was completely pointless, they have been playing much better. When the Texans lose, they look horrible. Matt Schaub’stime is now, if he wants to prove that he is the QB to help lead the Texans deep in the playoffs. I believe the defense might just aid them here, lead by JJ Watt, but don’t expect a blowout. Expect a shootout.

Final Prediction: Texans 31, Bengals 28

MIN@GB: The Vikings were able to topple the Packers in a thrilling matchup Sunday to earn a postseason spot. AP ran wild, and though he finished 9 yards shy of the NFL Single Season Record by Eric Dickerson, he accomplished his main goal of helping his team earn a date with the Packers, but this time in Lambeau. These Vikings are no slouches, winning 4 of their last 5, including the last 4 games. The Packers have also won 4 of their last 5, but that loss to the Vikings snapped their streak. The fact that this game has moved to Lambeau’s Frozen Tundra makes me think this will be mildly entertaining, but we might just see a Packers team that is out for blood, and more importantly, a ‘W’. Just remember that the Packers will want to key on AP, and while he may not completely get shut down, make Christian Ponder beat you.

Final Prediction: Packers 30, Vikings 17

IND@BAL: Not sure about you, but this is a matchup I eagerly anticipate. Rookie Andrew Luck has shocked the NFL World by helping his Colts go from zeroes to heroes, turning around that 2-14 record, and getting his team into the postseason. They’ve won 4 out of their last 5, as opposed to a Ravens team that has gone the exact opposite, losing 4 of their last 5. Andrew Luck is looking to do the unthinkable at this point, and how crazy would it be if he actually met Peyton Manning in the Divisional Round? Food for thought, and maybe a pipedream. However, this Ravens team is all about getting healthy, and they showed that last week, letting their backups play against the Bengals. We will get to see Suggs & Ray Lewis suit up together at least one more time, and I believe this provides some extra motivation for the players on the Ravens. Home hasn’t been as dominate as it once was for the Ravens (6-2), but one would think Baltimore is up for this challenge to cause some havoc. It’s a tough one to choose, but I think Luck will get bested this go round.

Final Prediction: Ravens 27, Colts 21

SEA@WAS: I REALLY look forward to this matchup. After watching the Redskins play last night, and the intensity it showed, it makes the date with Seattle that much more interesting. The Redskins have rallied around RGIII & company to win their last 7 after their 3-6 start. The Seahawks came back down to Earth, only putting 20 up on the Rams (and winning in the last minute of the game), but have been winners in their last 5 games. Rookie on Rookie, Wilson vs. RGIII, Lynch vs. Morris, Shanahan vs. Carroll. Seattle is just 3-5 on the road this season, and I believe the Redskins, will emerge victorious on Sunday. HTTR?

Final Prediction: Redskins 24, Seahawks 14
