Notes from Hispandrix

BAL@DEN: The Ravens were motivated (to say the least) after Ray Lewis announced his plans to retire at the end of the season. He played his heart out, and was a huge factor on the day, helping his team beat the Colts 24-9. Anquan Boldin was completely on fire as he reminded everyone why he was/is a top receiver. Now they travel to Denver, to face the nearly perfect Broncos. I kind of wish this game were on Sunday, but alas, it will be a late afternoon showdown. The Broncos won their previous matchup against the Ravens 34-17 in Baltimore. Is it time for revenge? I would love to see it, but it's hard to pick against the Broncos, and the 100 ways they can beat you. Plus, Joe Flacco is on the road, so it's time for his true test.

Final Prediction: Broncos 31, Ravens 23

GB@SF: Lots of talk regarding the Week 1 matchup of these two teams, which saw the 49ers best the Packers at home, in a game where Frank Gore tore them up, and Alex Smith was actually the starting QB. The Packers have been playing pretty well, as Aaron Rodgers and company handled the Vikings with ease last weekend. It's the High Powered Offense vs. High Powered Defense here, and I personally would love to see nothing more than a Packers blowout. However, I know this will be a game, let's hope Rodgers is ready to play up, but this one may be fairly close.

Final Prediction: Packers 30, 49ers 27

HOU@NE: Everyone knows what happened last time the Texans played the Patriots, as they got spanked with ease in New England. The Patriots were more than happy to take a seat last weekend as the Texans were able to fend off the Bengals for a second year in a row in the postseason. I think the Texans make a few adjustments, and it won't be as one-sided, but Tom Brady is due for a Manning showdown, and I don't see the Texans defense being a huge wild card, leaving it to be on Matt Schaub, who hasn't been so impressive.

Final Prediction: Patriots 34, Texans 21

SEA@ATL: The Angry Birds matchup in Atlanta, where the postseason for the Falcons has not been kind. All the Seahawks did was knock off those red hot Redskins at home. The pressure is something fierce on Matt Ryan & company, as they look to finally get a playoff win for a change. The Seahawks defense is up to the task of handling the Falcons array of receivers, and I believe Matt Ryan won't break the hump (all Saints bias aside). This could get really ugly, and the Seahawks may just find themselves still climbing the Wild Card ladder at the end.

Final Prediction: Seahawks 31, Falcons 17
